A brief biography on Francis M. Kistner.

Francis M. Kistner who was known by many as Frank was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus. At the age of eighteen he joined Fr. Paul J. Colletti Council #5024 in Ozone Park, New York. where his father William, was a charter member. He rose through the chairs, holding most of the Council offices, becoming Grand Knight in 1977 already having become Faithful Navigator of the Stephen Moylan Assembly #715 in Woodhaven New York. Than serving for four years on the Queens Board of District Deputies. During this time Frank continued to serve his Council and was an active Knight in Queens County. In 1999 Frank teamed up with Msgr. Robert J. Thelen, his pastor at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, to lay the ground work for a parish based Knights of Columbus Council. On January 9, 2000, their dream was fullfilled as Nativity B.V.M./ Fr. Joseph C. Nosser Council #12675 gained the required thirty five members needed to begin a Council at the parish. During the first year of operation, Frank was the guiding force and inspiration that got the Council going in the right direction. He was a major planner of our our activities, delagated  responsibilities and educated the charter members of the Council in how the Knights of Columbus functioned. Unitl his untimely death on November 3rd 2000, Frank Kistner was the principal organizer and motivator behind the success of the Council. The officers and members of the Nativity B.V.M./ Fr. Joseph C. Nosser Council and the charter Columbian Squires requested that the Circle be named after Francis M. Kistner PGK PFN FDD. The Circle was officially born on December 17 2010.
